How long does a trampoline last?

A Mr Trampoline frame is warranted for 30 years, and we expect our frames to last 30 years plus. The woven bed is the part that wears: it’s warranted for 8 years, and typically lasts 20–25 years loved and looked after, or 10–12 years unloved. Springs, clips and surrounds all come off and go back on, so you replace parts, not the trampoline.

That’s the whole idea. Buy it once. Hand it down.

How long does each part last?

A trampoline isn’t one thing that wears out all at once. It’s a team, and every player has a different career length.

Short version: the frame is the one you keep, the bed is the one you look after, and the rest are the ones you swap when they’re tired.

Why does the frame last so long?

Because it’s galvanised steel, built heavy, and set where it can’t go anywhere. Every frame is 100 × 50 mm Australian steel RHS, C350 grade, with a 2.5 mm wall on in-ground and deck frames and 3.0 mm on above-ground frames. It’s hot-dip galvanised after fabrication, so the welds and cut ends are coated too.

It doesn’t ask much of you. Look for rust, and listen for a squeak. There are tightening bolts on the legs and braces, and a squeak usually means one has worked loose. Nip it up and the frame goes back to being the quietest member of the family.

That’s why it carries a 30-year warranty, and why we expect our frames to last 30 years plus.

How long does a trampoline bed last?

Loved and looked after, 20–25 years. Unloved, 10–12. The difference is a tin of paint every three years.

Our beds are woven, not cut from a sheet: doubled strands of high-tenacity polyester, woven in an open square pattern on our own looms in Carnegie, then coated with our rubberised paint. The paint is what protects the strings from the sun, and unprotected strings are what eventually fail. Re-coat every three years and the bed keeps its armour on.

The bed warranty is 8 years, on condition that you re-coat it every 3 years with our rubberised paint. That’s the formal promise. The 20–25 years is what a well-loved bed actually does.

A broken string is a small job, not a new bed. Re-tie it with a reef knot or a double sheet bend and touch up the paint. Call us and we’ll send you spare string at no cost.

When a bed is finally done, it’s replaced on its own. Your stainless steel clips are re-used, and the frame and springs stay right where they are.

How long do the springs and surrounds last?

Springs are 11-inch galvanised steel, and like any spring they slowly stretch with use. That’s normal wear, not a fault, so there’s no separate warranty term on them. Check them every time you re-coat the bed: none missing, none stretched, none unhooked. A short count changes how the bed behaves and puts uneven load on the rest. Springs are sold one at a time, so you only replace the ones that have earned their retirement.

Rubber surrounds on in-ground and deck trampolines are UV-stable insertion rubber, warranted for 5 years. Padding on above-ground models is a 20 mm EVA foam core in an outdoor PVC cover. Inspect both regularly and replace them when they’re worn. If the ties or Velcro joiners on your padding tear away, send it back to us and we’ll mend it.

What does the Mr Trampoline warranty cover?

Every residential Mr Trampoline bought on or after 1 November 2025 comes with our Limited Lifetime Warranty, for the original purchaser:

  • 30 years on the frame, legs, galvanised structural components and stainless steel hanger clips
  • 8 years on the bounce bed, on condition that it is re-coated with Mr Trampoline rubberised paint every 3 years
  • 5 years on rubber surrounds

The re-coat is a condition, not a suggestion. Miss it and the bed is no longer covered.

The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, including fading, surface rust, spring stretch and UV wear on the bed and rubber; cuts or damage from sharp objects; or misuse, accidents and improper installation. Our goods also come with consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, and the warranty is in addition to them.

Schools, clubs and venues are covered by our separate Commercial Use Guarantee, with annual re-coating.

Comparing warranties? Compare them part by part: which part each number covers, and what you have to do to keep the cover.

Can I really replace every part?

Yes. Anything on your trampoline can be ordered on its own, made in our Carnegie factory or taken off our shelves. And if your frame isn’t a standard size, or isn’t one of ours, we’ll make a bed to fit it. Custom-size frames and beds are a large share of what we build, for homes as well as venues.

  • Beds: handmade 2-string replacement beds for the four standard sizes, clips already inserted, in blue, green, yellow or grey. Custom sizes woven to order.
  • Springs: sold individually, or as a full spring kit.
  • Hanger clips: stainless steel, sold individually.
  • Rubber surrounds and padding: made to your frame.
  • Rubberised mat paint and two-string repair kits: for the re-coat and the odd string repair.
  • Frame components and fittings: every last piece.

We repair and re-string any Mr Trampoline or Steelfast trampoline, whatever its age. In Victoria we service and visit. Interstate, we can put you in touch with contractors we’ve dealt with who can service it properly.

Not sure what you’re looking at? Send us a photo with your frame size and we’ll tell you what it needs.

How do I make my trampoline last?

One job matters more than all the others: re-coat the bed every three years with our rubberised paint. Put it in the calendar for every third spring. (The season, not the steel ones.) Do the rest of the check at the same time; the two jobs pair naturally.

Every three years, or whenever you paint the bed:

  1. Frame. Look for rust and listen for squeaks. Tighten any bolts that have worked loose.
  2. Springs. Check none are missing, stretched or unhooked.
  3. Strings. Re-tie any broken or loose string and touch up the paint.
  4. Rubber and padding. Re-secure anything loose. Clean with a damp cloth, and mild soap for stubborn marks.
  5. The pit (in-ground). Clear leaves and debris, and check the drainage hose is connected and running free. A messy pit is the most common cause of a wet bed.

In between, brush off leaves and debris, keep pet claws off the bed, and glance over the spring hooks each season.

Never let anyone bounce while you’re working on the trampoline.

Is a premium trampoline worth it?

It depends how long you want it for. A Mr Trampoline costs more up front than a mass-market backyard trampoline. What you’re paying for is one you keep: a galvanised steel frame we expect to last 30 years plus, and a bed, springs and surrounds you renew one at a time as they wear.

After that, the running costs are small and predictable: a tin of rubberised mat paint every three years, the odd spring, and one day a new bed. The clips are re-used and the frame stays in the ground.

If a trampoline can’t be repaired, the whole thing goes when one part does, and you’re back at the shops. Whatever you’re comparing, ask each one the same questions:

  • How long is the frame warranted, and does the bed cover come with a maintenance condition?
  • Can you buy a replacement bed, a single spring or a surround on its own?
  • Is the frame galvanised steel, and how thick is the wall?
  • Who makes the replacement parts, and will they still be making them in 20 years?

Remember a kit price is the trampoline, not the installation. Pit work, concrete and drainage are separate.

If you want one trampoline for the whole of your children’s childhood, built to still be bouncing when your kids have kids, that’s what we build. If you need one for a summer or two, a premium trampoline is probably more than you need. We’d rather tell you that now.

Is a long-lasting trampoline a good choice for a family?

Yes, if you want one trampoline from the toddler years to the teenage ones. The bounce comes from the jumper: a small child gets a soft, gentle bounce, and a teenager or adult pushing hard gets more height from the same bed. It grows with your family instead of being outgrown, which is more than can be said for the school shoes.

Set in-ground, the bed sits flush with the lawn at the lowest fall height of any mounting. The rules are the same at every age: one person at a time, land in the centre of the bed, and stay off the rubber or padding. Supervise children, especially those aged about 2 to 5.

Plenty of our customers bounced on a Mr Trampoline as kids and now have their own children on one.

How long have our customers’ trampolines lasted?

We could tell you. They tell it better. In their own words, from their Google reviews:

“My parents trampoline was purchased from Mr Trampoline 50 years ago and is still going strong. Mine is 35 years old and my daughter has just got one for my grandchildren…” Gillian Scaduto

“We have owned this trampoline for 40 years. We bought a mat about 20 years ago and one now.” Dave Baxter

“It is 40 years old, inground tramp, loved by our grandkids and you were able to bring it back to life once again.” Marilyn Shinners

“Our trampoline mat lasted for 20 years of constant use before it needed replacing.” Louise Scott

“We have been lucky to have used a Mr Trampoline tramp for over 30yrs. (Formerly steelfast!) … FYI it’s adult approved also!” Teresa Brown

“All parts are replaceable so they are also sustainable.” Rosemary Mellor

These are our customers’ experiences, not a warranty. But they show the pattern: the frame stays, and the bed gets renewed when it’s done.

Can I get one quickly?

Yes. All four standard sizes are held in stock in green or blue (other colours are made to order). We typically ship the next business day, or come to the factory at 966–968 Dandenong Road, Carnegie, and take one home the same day. That’s our favourite way to do it, and you might catch a bed being strung by hand while you’re here. We’re open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Buy it once. Hand it down. Every Mr Trampoline is handmade in Carnegie, Melbourne, with a 30-year frame warranty and every part replaceable.
