Looking after your trampoline
A Mr Trampoline is built to stay outside for decades. Hot-dipped galvanised heavy-duty RHS frames are warranted for 30 years, and in practice they need very little from you. The bed is the part that wears, and it is the part that rewards attention.
The one job that matters — re-coat the mat every three years
Re-coating the bed every three years is a condition of the warranty, not a suggestion. It is the single thing that decides whether a bed lasts. Paint protects the strings from UV; unprotected strings are what eventually fail. Commercial venues re-coat annually.
Do it every three years, and check the frame at the same time — the two jobs pair naturally.
Every three years, or whenever you paint the mat
- Frame. Look for rust and listen for squeak. Galvanised RHS is essentially maintenance-free, but there are tightening bolts on the legs and braces, and a squeak usually means one has worked loose.
- Springs and spring count. Check none are missing, stretched or unhooked. A short count changes how the bed behaves and puts uneven load on the rest.
- Strings. A broken or loose string is a small job, not a bed replacement. Re-tie it with a reef knot or a double sheet bend and touch up the paint. Call us on (03) 9571 5711 and we will send you spare string at no cost.
- Padding and rubber. Re-secure anything loose. If ties or Velcro joiners have torn away, send the padding back to us at 968 Dandenong Road, Carnegie VIC 3163 and we will mend it. Clean both types with a damp cloth; mild soap for stubborn marks.
- The pit, on in-ground models. Clear leaves and debris, and check the drainage hose is connected and running free. A messy pit is the most common cause of a wet bed.
Never let anyone bounce while you are working on the trampoline.
